July 24th

We celebrated the 24th of July by taking the kids to the Cottonwood Heights parade, for the second year. We found a nice spot in the shade to watch from and the kids enjoyed getting candy, well except for the mint taffy! Then we walked down to the crafts and swings and free watermelon. After a yummy dinner at Su Casa we went back to Jen's condo to go swimming. Our little fish Olivia had a great time, Zachary again did everything he could to stay out of the water, I guess he got that from me!

Pause

Alexander would be most happy if he could just stay like this all day.

Boating

Our fun neighbors invited Rob and the big kids to go boating and swimming at Utah Lake with them. Olivia loved it, Zachary not so much!

How To Tell We Had Fun

We must have worn them out because....

the ride home was quiet!

Lagoon

Of course I loaded the pictures backwards again but you will the idea!
Playing in the fountain at the end of the day
Passed out baby. Who by the way is a BOY!! I had two different people ask "how old is she", ummm hello HE is in a blue hat and a blue and red outfit without a drop of pink or purple or bows or ribbons. I understand he is a "pretty" baby but if he was a girl I would be sure she was in pink and bows and ribbons. Grrrr!
The boat ride.
Fun whale ride.
Rob's parents invited us to go to Lagoon with them on their Stake Lagoon Day last Thursday. We thought it might be a good idea to get Olivia used to rides before our trip to Disneyland this fall. We brought Rob's mom up with us and had fun riding rides for a little while before Rob's dad and brother and sister in law met us there. The kids had fun riding all the kiddie rides. Olivia loved the boat ride but did refuse to go on the huge ferris wheel and she did cry a bit on the carousel until Rob convinced her she wasnt going to fall off. Zachary being the fearless kid he is liked everything, especially the train ride. Both kids liked the roller coasters. I didnt get nearly as many pictures as I would have liked to since I was carrying the baby. Alexander was not a happy baby, it was hot and we were outside. I carried him most of the day, my arm was HURTING on Friday. It was a fun day mostly and I think we will make it a summer tradition.

Wish I had a camera phone

So following our really late night for the kids on the 4th we went to church like normal on Sunday. The kids were being especially rambunctious due to the lack of sleep. Rob told Zachary to sit down and fold his arms. A minute later we looked over and he was sound asleep sitting there with his arms folded. He slept like that until church was over, how I wished we had a camera with us! You will just have to take my word on how cute it was!

Lesson Learned

So we learned another important parenting lesson this 4th of July. I thought that the kids were big enough to stay up to see the fireworks. We had it all planned to be at Rob's parents house and then to go see a fireworks display somewhere. When we got to his parents house they suggested we stay and watch the neighbors light off their big packages of fireworks, I was slightly nervous about doing that since I wasnt sure how the kids would react. Somehow plans got changed and we ended up just pulling off the road to watch the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. The kids were crazy, climbing over all the seats, trying to fall out the windows, trying to push the horn, and we all were getting bitten by mosquitoes. Ummm, not fun. And to make things even worse the kids werent even impressed by the fireworks, we ended up leaving probably 10 minutes before they were over. Never again, next year they will be sound asleep by the time fireworks start.
